The changes will align the DVA schedules with the 11th and 12th editions of The Australian Schedule of Dental Services and Glossary (ADA schedule), and are designed to upgrade the schedules to a more contemporary industry standard.

This will help to save dental clinics’ time and make it easier for them to process treatments for DVA patients.

Dental providers are advised to ensure they refer to the updated DVA schedules for any services provided to DVA clients from 1 November this year.

Details of Schedule Amendments

Amended items

For items that are on both the DVA and ADA schedules, DVA will implement the majority of amendments from the 11th and 12th editions of the ADA schedule. Most of these are description changes.

Deleted and renumbered items

DVA is implementing all of the 11th and 12th editions’ ADA schedule changes in relation to deletions and renumbering of items.

New DVA items for partial dentures

Following are items for partial dentures that will be amended or added to the DVA Schedule so they align with the ADA schedule:

  • New item 733 will specify the number of teeth.
  • New items 734 and 739 will be added to align with the existing ADA Schedule items.
  • DVA-only item 730 will be deleted as it will be obsolete.

New provisional denture items

  • New items for provisional dentures: preformed crowns and periodontics, will be added to the DVA Schedule to align with the ADA schedule.
