War widows and orphans
War widows pension and orphans pension are paid to compensate widowed partners or orphaned children of veterans who have died as a result of war service or eligible defence service rendered before 1 July 2004. These pensions may be paid if the veteran was receiving a Special Rate (T&PI) disability pension, an Extreme Disablement Adjustment (EDA) prior to death, or if the veteran was an Australian ex-prisoner of war.
