Current Projects in Australia

Extension of the Gardens of Remembrance

Memorials in OAWG Gardens of Remembrance have become a popular choice of official post-war commemoration. In order to meet increasing demand, the Queensland and Launceston Gardens of Remembrance have recently been extended.

Construction of Additional Walls at the New South Wales Garden of Remembrance

The New South Wales Garden of Remembrance, located within the Rookwood Necropolis, Sydney, officially commemorates eligible veterans who have been privately buried or cremated. Where official commemoration cannot be provided at the gravesite or crematorium, eligible war veterans are commemorated in perpetuity on individual bronze plaques mounted on walls within the Garden of Remembrance.

Due to a high demand for this type of official commemoration there was a need to extend the plaque capacity of the New South Wales Garden of Remembrance.

In August 2006 BowdenMcPeake Architects were selected to design and administer the construction contract for the extension of the Garden. Sydney building company Elliot Projects were selected in May 2007 to construct forty one new brick walls in the southern corner of the Garden completing the original design and providing space for an additional 10,000 commemorative bronze plaques.  Work was completed in September 2007.
