INCREASED FEES FOR MEDICAL SPECIALISTS

How much funding has the Government committed?

• New funding of $158 million over four years.

How will the payment for specialists to treat veterans be increased?

• Medical specialists who provide services to veterans will receive an across the board fee increase of 15 per cent for consultations and 20 per cent for procedures.

How will the new system work?

• This measure will create a schedule of fees for services provided by medical specialists to veterans and their dependants who are entitled to health services under the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986.

• This initiative will benefit more than 320,000 veterans and war widows with a Gold or White Repatriation Health Card.
