    Commemorative Mission to the United Kingdom

Wednesday 5 November

The Mission Party held a service at the Tower Hill Memorial on the south side of the gardens of Trinity Square. Tower Hill Memorial is dedicated to the members of the Merchant Navy and the British Fishing Fleets who died in the world wars and have 'no grave but the sea'.

The Mission Party's Merchant Navy representative Ron Ware read the prologue, Frank Milner said the Ode and wreaths were laid by the Head of the Australian Defence Staff at the Australian High Commission, London, Commodore Geoff Geraghty and veterans Nemo Dorph, Des Singe and Ron Ware.

A catafalque party from Australia's Federation Guard and a bugler from the Coldstream Guards provided ceremonial support.

After the ceremony the group had morning tea at the Tower of London before being taken on a guided tour of the Crown Jewels and White Tower by Patrick Nolan, a New Zealand born Beefeater!
