The Mission Party was officially farewelled by their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery at Government House in Canberra on 3 November 2003.

The Governor-General spoke of the significance of the Australian War Memorial, London, and wished the Mission Party well in their role as the Australian representatives attending the memorial dedication on Remembrance Day, 11 November 2003. The Mission Party enjoyed morning tea with the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery before departing for London.
