Operation Jaywick 60th Anniversary and Defence Special Operations Week

Sydney

Operation Jaywick (Krait) 60th anniversary will be commemorated at Wharf 7 in Sydney's Darling Harbour with a program of commando demonstrations and hands-on displays, tours and keynote talks over the week from 26 September to 5 October 2003. The commemorations will highlight the historical role and achievements of Z Special Unit and Australian Special Forces.

A special feature of the commemorations will be the attendance of two of the survivors of the mission, Mr Horace Young and Mr Mostyn Berryman, at a function at the Australian National Maritime Museum on 26 September at 5.30pm.

The Australian National Maritime Museum will have a display and brochure on Operation Jaywick for the commemorative weekend.

Exmouth

The Exmouth Sub-branch of the RSL, Western Australia, has constructed a memorial gazebo to house display boards detailing the story of Operation Jaywick. The Krait departed from Exmouth on its historic mission.
