Take care when using paradichlorobenzene

Using paradichlorobenzene

Paradichlorobenzene is inexpensive and readily available in supermarkets. Use common sense when handling the chemical. A pair of disposable plastic gloves will help avoid contact with the skin. Try not to inhale the paradichlorobenzene vapours when handling it.

The blocks should not be allowed to come in contact with polished or finished surfaces such as wood, plastic or metal.

If poisoning occurs, seek medical advice from a doctor or Poisons Information Centre.

To avoid using chemicals, you may prefer to use a freezing process. The sidebar box 'Freezing to remove insects' gives full instructions.
