The acceptance rate for lump sum payments remains constant but overall numbers increased, due entirely to the removal of the backlog The continuing increase in claims did not eventuate as expected. The number of incapacity payees continues to rise.

During the year, 6471 new claims for initial liability were received. This represents a decrease of 1 per cent over the previous year. This figure is likely to remain fairly constant for some time and represents a small increase on historical figures.
