The Veterans’ Affairs Portfolio Annual Report of the Repatriation Commission Annual Report of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs Annual Report of the National Treatment Monitoring Committee |
Annual Reports Contents >> DVA Annual Report >> Our PeopleNational Learning Strategy During the year, DVA’s business environment has continued to emphasise delivering our services through third parties and looking for improved service delivery through e-business. In addition, there has been an even stronger need to deliver services in a more cost-effective manner. For DVA’s workforce, this has meant a continuing shift towards acquiring and developing skills and knowledge in areas such as contract management, business and data analysis, financial management, public sector governance and improved client service. To help meet these business needs, the Department is developing a National Learning Strategy that specifies the learning priorities for the year ahead. DVA is aiming to have the right people in the right place with the right skills at the right time every time, so that business areas can implement new business directions effectively and efficiently. To do this, the Department has placed an emphasis on improved leadership skills, change management, workforce planning and enhanced workforce reporting, improved graduate recruitment processes and performance development and review. A range of projects commenced in 2001–02 to implement these improvements. |
