About the Consultative Forum

The Consultative Forum for the Vietnam Veterans’ Family Study is made up of people who have been nominated by a range of ex-service organisations to represent the interests of participant groups in the study.  This includes Vietnam veterans, Vietnam-era personnel and their partners and children. Membership of the Forum is listed here.

The members of the Consultative Forum provide comment to the Department of Veterans Affairs on participants’ issues in relation to the study and consult with their organisations/constituents to ensure the veteran community perspective is provided on the study.  The Forum acts as the conduit between the ex-service community, the Scientific Advisory Committee and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

The Terms of Reference  outline the role of the Consultative Forum and its members. The Consultative Forum is chaired by the Repatriation Commissioner, Major General Mark Kelly AO, DSC (Retd).  The Department of Veterans’ Affairs provides secretariat services to the Consultative Forum.

The Consultative Forum has met on a number of occasions to discuss a range of issues about the study; in particular, ways of increasing registrations from those invited as part of the random sample groups and their families. More information can be found in the meeting summaries below.
