  • New Specific Contact Number for Department of Veterans’ Affairs Providers

From 1 November 2007 the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) will introduce a new national telephone number for health care providers. Providers in metropolitan areas should call 1300 550 457, while providers in regional areas should call the corresponding Freecall number 1800 550 457.
This new provider-specific telephone number will enable health care providers contacting DVA to have their call directed to the appropriate DVA staff member in the first instance rather than being in a general enquiries call queue.
The automated voice prompts and telephone keypad selection will also enable providers to bypass possible call delays that they may currently experience while waiting for a switchboard operator.
    Please note that the national telephone numbers for Transport (Metro: 1300 550 455 / Non-metro: 1800 550 455) and VAPAC (1800 552 580) have not changed.
The current general enquiries number (133 254) will continue to be used only by the veteran community wishing to contact DVA.
    However, from 1 November all providers should call either 1300 550 457 or 1800 550 457.
For any enquiries please send e-mails to: providerpartnering@dva.gov.au
