Eligibility (for hearing services)

You are eligible for the Hearing Services Program (HSP) if you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident, 21 years or older, and a Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) client that is at least one of the following:

  • the holder of a DVA Gold Card issued for all conditions
  • the holder of a DVA White Card issued for specific conditions that include hearing loss
  • the holder of a DVA Pensioner Concession Card
  • a dependent or spouse of one who holds a Gold, White or DVA Pen

If you would like to apply and check your eligibility, you can use the online application where you will be guided through the process. The online application is the quickest way to gain access to services under the program.

Other initiatives

If you are not eligible for these programs you may be able to obtain help through your state or territory government or through hearing aid banks. Further information about services outside the mentioned programs is available at the Department of Health’s Hearing Services Program.
