Access hearing services

You can choose to apply for hearing services online or via the hearing services provider.

Apply online

There are only 4 steps between you and improved hearing:

  1. Check your eligibility for the Australian Government Hearing Services Program (HSP)
  2. Apply for the HSP
  3. Visit your GP for a referral, to have a hearing assessment
  4. Find and contact a local hearing provider to make your first appointment

Other application options

If you would prefer not to apply online, you can choose from one of the following options:

  • visit your chosen hearing services provider who can apply online, on your behalf, or
  • complete the paper application form* available from HSP (I am eligible)
    • once downloaded, print the form, complete it, scan it and send it to or post to:

*Note, paper applications can take up to four weeks to process.

First-time application

When applying for hearing services for the first time you will need to:

  1. have your medical practitioner fill in the medical certificate (available for download from I'm eligible - How do I apply?)
  2. obtain a referral from your medical practitioner, or general practitioner (GP)
  3. take the filled-in/signed medical certificate (from step 1) to a hearing services provider of your choice who can complete the application process on your behalf.

Already receiving hearing services

If you are already receiving hearing services through HSP, and would like a new assessment, contact your hearing services provider.
