10,000 Steps Walking Challenge

A virtual walking challenge for veterans, war widows, widowers, current and ex-Australian Defence Force members and their families.

The 2017 DVA National 10K steps virtual walking challenge – The Kokoda Track is now CLOSED

This year over 1,300 participants decided to challenge themselves and their mates in the spirit of friendly rivalry, to improve their daily step count and overall activity level. Congratulations to all the category winners and thankyou to all the participants for your efforts over the 4 weeks, in particular the team captains and coordinators who supported, motivated and in some instances, carried their team over the line.

We encourage you to continue counting your daily steps and setting achievable goals, this small action can make significant improvements to your overall health and wellbeing. Perhaps consider a running a 10K step challenge of your own, or continue to use the 10,000 steps website to track your individual progress.

The National 10K steps champions for 2017 are:

  • Winning State - NSW
  • Individual winner - Lorna Turner - Bayside Blitz - (Swansea RSL sub-branch, TAS)
  • Winning team - RDW -– (Recruit Development Wing) - (Kapooka, NSW)
  • Captain’s Spirit Award – Dick Cantwell (CAAKED – WA)

    • Scan and email completed form to 10Ksteps@dva.gov.au , or
    • Post the completed form to DVA 10K steps coordinator, GPO Box 9998, Brisbane, QLD, 4001.
