Review of military compensation arrangements

The Review of Military Compensation Arrangements commenced in 2009 and was completed in 2011. The Steering Committee's report was released by the then Minister for Veterans' Affairs on 18 March 2011.

The then Government responded to the report of the Review on 8 May 2012, accepting 96 of the 108 recommendations and committing $17.4 million over four years to implement the changes.

Implementation of recommendations

The MRCA Review made 108 recommendations ranging from administration and policy improvements, to reviews of various pension and compensation types, and proposed legislative change. In its response of 8 May 2012, the then Government accepted or modified 96 of these recommendation, deferred three and accepted one observation from the report. This totalled 100 recommendations to be actioned.

Of the 100 recommendations requiring action, 90 have been completed and the Review of Military Compensation Arrangements has been formally closed. The 10 remaining recommendations are part of specific longer term projects or have been transitioned into the Department’s ongoing business.
