DVA Transformation

Craig Orme DSC AM CSC provided an overview of the DVA transformation process.

ATDP update

David Waddle provided an update on ATDP locally and nationally, including recognition of prior learning, mentoring activities and the upcoming programs.

ESO Updates

Royal Australian Air Force Association - Tas

GPCART Rex Bean (RTD) reported that grant funding has been sought to obtain chairs for club rooms that meet the needs of members with reduced mobility. 

Mates4Mates- Tas

Stephen Knox outlined the organisation’s focus on social connection and whole-of-person support. He reported that a full-time liaison officer/physiologist and a part-time liaison officer positions had been recruited. A forthcoming outreach activity is occurring in Launceston on 31 July.

Totally and Permanently Incapacitated Association - Tas

Ray Williams reported challenges regarding membership, and highlighted the organisation’s focus on welfare work. He also reported the recent provision of Veterans and Community grant for bus excursions 

Senior Defence Representative

Commander Lewis Gaha OAM ADC RAN (Senior Naval Officer) reported that he is retiring at the end of the year. CDR Gaha also discussed transition processes in Tasmania and local linkages with DVA, particularly in relation to encouraging serving members to lodge claims as early as possible.

Partners of Veterans Association – Tas

Jacinta Leahy provided an overview of the Kookaburra Kids’ program for serving and ex-serving Australian Defence Force families, and offered to facilitate a presentation on the program at future DCCF meeting.

RSL Tasmania

Alex Dick reported on the provision of funding received from State Government for a Veteran Retreat project in northern Tasmania.

Hobart Legacy

Helen Watling foreshadowed an annual general meeting to be held next month and reported an intake of 25 children, including some international residents.

Australian Peacekeeper and Peacemaker Veterans Association – Tas

Graeme Barnett RFD reported that word of mouth advertising is boosting membership for the association.

Naval Association of Australia - Tas

Alec McNeill reported that membership for the association is steady.

Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia – Tas

Brian Harper OAM and Malcolm Cash reported that association meetings reduced to two per year. An overview of the association’s bush retreat program was also provided.

Department of Premier and Cabinet – Tas

Alex Schouten provided updates on Centenary of ANZAC grant projects.
