What is the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels Commemorative Medallion?
The Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels Commemorative Medallion is a symbol of Australia’s appreciation for the care and assistance given by PNG civilians to Australian servicemen and women during World War II. Many Australians, wounded and suffering terrible illnesses, owe their lives to these civilians who came to be affectionately known as ‘Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels’.
Who is eligible to receive a Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels Commemorative Medallion?
An identified indigenous Papua New Guinean will be eligible to receive the medallion if he/she:
For the purposes of issuing the medallion, a widow/widower of a Fuzzy Wuzzy Angel is someone who was married (via Customary Marriage or Statutory Marriage) to a Fuzzy Wuzzy Angel who is now deceased.
