Laws Protecting the Word 'Anzac'
The laws governing the use of the word 'Anzac' and the authority of the Minister for Veterans' Affairs are:
- War Precautions Act Repeal Act 1920 (Cth), s 22 - authority to make the Protection of Word 'Anzac' Regulations 1921 (Cth) ('Anzac Regulations') and provides for penalties for breach
- Protection of Word 'Anzac' Regulations 1921 (Cth) - the central regulations, which prohibit the use of the word 'Anzac' in trade etc; and the registration of trade marks and designs using the word without authority
- Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1956 (Cth), reg 4V - created under the Customs Act 1901 (Cth), prohibit the importation of Anzac goods without the Minister's authority
