| Details: | Upon completion of the Dawn Service a gunfire breakfast will be held in the vicinity of the Hellfire Pass Museum car-park.
Hellfire Pass is approximately 250 km from Bangkok and approximately 75 km north of Kanchanaburi Town. The trip from Kanchanaburi Town to Hellfire Pass takes approximately 45 minutes by road.
The walk to the site takes approximately 20 minutes. (Please note the track is rocky and uneven in parts, via steps and along the old railway line – sensible footware is recommended and access is difficult for disabled persons) It is recommended that each visitor bring insect repellent and a small torch to the dawn service.
Toilet facilities at both Kanchanaburi and Hellfire Pass are scarce, and rudimentary at best.
Please note that for security reasons, bags will NOT be permitted to be taken into Hellfire Pass. Mobile phones must also be switched off during the service.
For visitors from Australia, the RSL generally co-ordinates tours to Thailand for ANZAC Day activities. Your local branch should be able to assist you with travel and accommodation enquiries. Many travel agents also have such information. Regrettably, the Defence Section at the Australian Embassy in Thailand is unable to assist with personal travel arrangements. |
Kanchanaburi Town
