Research Officer The following ongoing employment opportunity is expected to appear in the Gazette of PS25 (26/06/08) Closing Date: 10 July 2008 Duties: The Rehabilitation, Research and Development Group is seeking a Research Officer on an ongoing basis in the Strategic Research Development Section. We are looking for a highly motivated person who welcomes major challenges and enjoys working in a small team environment. Ideally we are looking for someone with an Honours or Masters qualification in health-related social or medical science disciplines. The successful candidate will have relevant experience in quantitative and qualitative research. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the development of a strategic direction for the applied and health study research activities of the department. The position will involve liaising with business areas and external agencies to facilitate high quality research that forms an evidence-base for policy development. The position requires a highly-motivated person who can harness information across a broad range of disciplines and respond to politically sensitive issues in a timely and flexible manner. VVCS – Veterans & Veterans Families Counselling Service Closing Date: 3 July 2008 (COB) The following non-ongoing employment opportunity is expected to appear in the Gazette of PS 23 12 June 2008. VVCS Counsellor/Case workers are qualified psychologists or social workers with strong clinical experience. They are responsible for interventions across the continuum of mental health service delivery including - early intervention activities, treatment, care coordination and case management. NOTE: The successful applicant will be appointed on a non-ongoing contract for up to 18 months with the possibility of becoming ongoing within the contracted period. Job Description VVCS counsellors/caseworkers are qualified psychologists or social workers with strong clinical experience. Counsellors/case workers are responsible for interventions across the continuum of mental health service delivery, including:
Counsellors/caseworkers are required to develop networks and liaise with key service providers and stakeholders in the community to ensure that clients receive the appropriate mix of services for their identified needs. Counsellors/caseworkers contribute to policy and procedure development in VVCS. There are also avenues to contribute to ongoing mental health policy development within DVA and to implement the DVA Mental Health Plan. Counsellors are responsible for ensuring the establishment and maintenance of quality assurance processes in all aspects of delivering the service. Counsellors/caseworkers have a key role to coordinate contracted counselling services for outreach clients and to ensure that linkages are in place with key community service providers for referral when required.
