Taxis, public and community transport

When an eligible veteran or war widow/er travels by taxi, public or community transport for approved medical treatment of an accepted disability (white card holder) or has a gold card and is travelling for approved treatment of any medical condition, DVA may reimburse certain expenses incurred.

Veterans and war widow/ers aged 80 years or more, or suffering from dementia, or legally blind, are automatically eligible for taxi travel.  To claim costs associated with taxi travel, all other veterans or war widows/ers require a health provider to certify that they are unable to travel by public, private or community transport.
