When an eligible veteran or war widow/er travels for approved medical treatment of an accepted disability (white card holder), or has a gold card and is travelling for approved treatment, DVA may authorise air transport in certain circumstances where this is considered the most suitable means of transport. This will depend on the veteran or war widow/ers medical condition and the availability and cost of other transport. A health provider must contact the Veterans’ Transport Services Section in the nearest DVA office to make arrangements for this mode of transport.
