Support for carers

Carer support programs provide you with information and support to assist with your caring role.

The type of support available includes: 

    • assistance in the home and respite care, through the Veterans’ Home Care program
    • assistance with assessed clinical and/or personal care needs for eligible veterans or war widow(er)s, through the Community Nursing program
    • education about caring for someone with dementia
    • books, e.g. Living with Dementia: A guide for veterans and their families and Back to Basics: A Practical Guide to Back Care
    • videos/DVDs, e.g. We Can Move On – Help and Support for Partners of Veterans (available from Carers Australia, freecall 1800 242 636)
