Mission

DVA exists to serve members of Australia's veteran and defence force communities, war widows and widowers, widows and dependants, through programs of care, compensation, commemoration and defence support services.

To achieve excellence in service delivery.

The Department of Veterans' Affairs supports the Minister and the Government, as well as the Repatriation Commission which is responsible for the Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986. The Department also administers the Defence Service Homes Act 1918, and the Military Compensation and Rehabilitation Service.
