Explains your right of access to information about you and how to obtain this information.
The Commonwealth
Freedom of Information Act 1982
(the FOI Act) creates a right of public access to documents held by Australian government, ministers and agencies. It also creates a right to amend records containing personal information that is incomplete, incorrect, out of date or misleading.

(the Privacy Act) the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) must apply to personal information collected about you.
The Privacy Act regulates how Australian Government departments and agencies, organisations and private businesses collect, use and protect personal information (including government identifiers). It also ensures that tax file numbers are collected and used only for taxation, assistance and superannuation related purposes.
