Statistics about the veteran population

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) regularly compiles the following statistics:

Local government area (LGA)

  • Veteran profile by LGA - June 2010 (PDF 153kb)
  • Veteran profile by LGA - June 2009 (PDF 77kb)

These reports summarise the numbers of DVA pensioners and treatment cardholders in each of Australia's 620+ local government areas by state or territory. The reports are derived by geocoding beneficiaries to local government area boundaries (i.e. determining their exact geographical location). Please see note below regarding obtaining more information or information in a different format.

Note:

    1. Individuals who could not be geocoded to a specific local government area within a state or territory are reported as an unincorporated group (e.g. 'Unincorporated NSW').
    2. Those who could not be geocoded to a specific state or territory, or who live overseas, are not reported.
    3. The reports have been modified to reduce the chances of individual clients being identified.
