In 2015-16 and beyond, DVA will be focused on the following activities:


  • Improving rehabilitation and compensation outcomes through improving flexible workload management strategies
  • Continuing the implementation of mental health policies and a holistic wellness model based on prevention and rehabilitation
  • Facilitating the second year of the Anzac Centenary 2014-2018 National Programme
  • Further developing business intelligence to support research and evidence based policy and development of new client initiatives and services


  • Maintaining financial viability, reflecting the Government’s priorities of being affordable and sustainable
  • Performance management and staff development improvements to enhance client service outcomes and to address issues identified in staff surveys
  • Continuing to deliver on the action plan drawn from DVA’s 2013 Capability Review
  • Assessing and monitoring enterprise and fraud risks and their prevention strategies


  • Maturing online self-service availability and functionality through the Government’s digital transformation agenda
  • Enhancing and refining relationships with Defence to improve whole-of-life client activities
  • Partnering with the Department of Human Services to leverage Whole-of-Government ICT capabilities
  • Consulting with the ex-service community to enhance service capability
