Schools from the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and Queensland are the national winners in this year’s Anzac Day Schools’ Awards, the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Centenary of ANZAC, Senator the Hon. Michael Ronaldson, announced today.

Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Senator the Hon. Michael Ronaldson, today announced 116 community projects honouring Australian servicemen and women will receive more than $285,000 in funding under the Australian Government’s Saluting Their Service grants programme.

The Tweed Heads Veterans’ Access Network (VAN) shopfront will relocate to new premises in late 2015.

The decision to move the VAN office was made by Senator the Hon. Michael Ronaldson, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, following community consultations undertaken by DVA in January and February 2015.

The consultations indicated face-to-face contact remains important for the Tweed Heads community—a finding supported by the rate of in-person visits to Tweed Heads VAN, which is decreasing, but still relatively high compared to other offices examined to date.

Legislation to give effect to the 2014-15 Budget measure to cease the Seniors Supplement has passed.  This means that the last payment was on 25 June 2015 for Commonwealth Seniors Health Card holders and certain Gold Card holders.
