Improved access to services for veterans through the Canberra Veterans’ Access Network (VAN)

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) today announced that negotiations were underway to relocate the Canberra Veterans’ Access Network (VAN) office on Corinna Street to Bowes Street, Woden ACT, providing improved access to services for veterans and their families.

DVA is negotiating with the Department of Human Services (DHS) to co-locate the Canberra VAN office with DHS’ Service Centre from mid-September 2017.

Co-location with the DHS Service Centre will enable veterans and their families to access a variety of services in one central place.

In addition, the new site is in a modern facility, which has direct access to a large car park and remains in close proximity to the Woden bus interchange.

Improving access to a variety of services for veterans and their families remains a key priority for DVA.

All Canberra VAN office staff will relocate to the new location and continue to deliver all existing services to the veteran community.

The DVA presence will be clearly identified within the DHS Service Centre.

Traffic and congestion in and around Corinna Street, Woden, is an issue and is not anticipated to decrease.

DVA will work with the local veteran community to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible, and to ensure that the services provided by the Canberra VAN office continue to meet the needs of the local veteran community.
