Group accommodation and theatre banding schedule
Under the agreements between the Department of Veterans' Affairs and private hospital service providers, accommodation and operating theatre charges are claimed based on the Group Accommodation and Theatre Banding (GATB) Schedule. The GATB schedule comprises two tables: one based on the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) items and the other on ICD-10-AM diagnosis/disease codes.
This schedule is updated twice yearly following May and November amendments to the CMBS published by the Department of Health and Ageing.
57 ICD codes were removed with Date of Effect 1 April 2009 as these were * Asterisk codes which would not be claimed as Principal Diagnoses.
33 ICD codes were removed with Date of Effect 1 July 2010 as these were determined to be unacceptable Principal Diagnoses (PDx).
