Demographic tables

The demographic tables provide summary profiles of Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) client population aged 70+ and 80+ versus general population aged 70+ and 80+, respectively. The information is provided by Local Government Area (LGA) and Aged Care Planning Region, as advised by the Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA).

Veteran population is derived from the DVA, "Information on DVA Clients aged 70 and over by LGAs and Age Group: September 2010".
The report has been modified to reduce the chances for identification of individual clients (where the number of DVA clients in a particular area is under four).
A population of 1 is listed in the Tables, for LGAs where the number of DVA clients is reported as 'under 4'. This will account for any discrepancy between totals under Section 3.5 and Section 4.
Local Government Areas without a 70+ population may not be included.

General population is derived from “Projected Resident Population (as at 30 June 2010)” data provided by DoHA and prepared by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) as consultant to DoHA and according to assumptions agreed to by DoHA.
