1st Division Memorial, Pozieres
Located at Pozieres, this traditional obelisk style memorial is easily visible from the D929 Albert-Bapaume road. Close by is the ‘Gibraltar’ German strongpoint, captured by the 1st Division in July 1916.
During the Battle of Pozieres in July 1916, the 1st Division was under continuous heavy artillery fire. When the Division was relieved by the 2nd Division on 27 July 1916, it had lost 5,285 officers and men in only four days.

2nd Division Memorial, Mont St Quentin
Today the 2nd Division memorial is located at the side of the N17 Bapaume-Peronne Road within the Village of Mont St Quentin. In 1940, the occupying German Army removed the original Memorial, which depicted a digger about to bayonet a German eagle. Australian replaced it with a 2.5m tall slouch-hatted digger in battle dress.
3rd Division Memorial, Sailly le Sec
Located at Sailly-le-Sec, near Albert, this obelisk stands prominently on a ridge north of the Somme River. The Memorial can be reached from Albert by the D42 Meaulte and D1 Corbie Roads.
4th Division Memorial, Bellenglise, near St Quentin
The easternmost of the AIF Memorials, this obelisk stands on high ground where the Hindenburg line once barred the allied approach. From Peronne, take the N44 and E44 towards Vermand and turn left onto the D33. The Memorial is located on a farm road at the hamlet of le Petit Arbre, beyond the town of Vadancourt.
